Everything You Need To Know About Getting Married On Prince Edward Island In Summer

Summer is the time for road trips to the beach, picnics in the park – and planning a wedding! Especially when that wedding is on Prince Edward Island. PEI is a place that manages to make you feel comfortable and at ease, while simultaneously making you feel like you’ve landed in luxury. That same feeling perfectly translates to weddings here – getting married on Prince Edward Island in summer feels effortlessly luxurious!

Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of wonderful places to get married during the summer, but there is no place closer to my heart – and in my opinion no place more beautiful – than this picturesque island full of red sand beaches, sprawling landscapes, and rich history.

More than the natural beauty that PEI provides, there’s something nearly indescribable about it. There’s an energy to the island. One that exudes casual elegance. An elegance that exists without trying, and without pretension.

In case you couldn’t tell, I love the idea of getting married on Prince Edward Island in the summer! It’s pure magic. This is why I put together this comprehensive guide to summer weddings on PEI. I’m going to break it down piece by piece to try and make the rest of your PEI wedding planning as easy as a warm summer breeze!

PEI Weddings In Summer

There’s something languid and luxurious about the summer season in PEI. The days are longer and as they stretch into the night, the sunset transitions into this explosion of color and light. The sweet perfume of flowers wafts through the warm night breezes, and the stars shine brightly in cloudless skies.

Summer is the peak season for beauty in PEI. The sands of the beaches seem to sparkle under the feet of the tourists as they enjoy a day of sunbathing. The lighthouses that are littered along the coastline are surrounded by long grass that tickles your feet as you take in the sights. The fields seem to stretch on forever, and the gardens are rife with sweet swelling blooms.

The Best Indoor And Outdoor Wedding Venues On PEI For Your Summer

The venue you choose sets the tone for your big day! Your venue acts as the backdrop to a large portion of the photos from that day. It’s a space you’ll remember for the rest of your lives together.

Luckily, with me as your PEI wedding photographer, you’re working with someone who spends hours upon hours of my life inside these venues! Any of these venues would be an amazing choice for your dream day – so here’s my list of the best summer wedding venues on PEI.

  1. The New London Carriage House – This versatile venue is full of rustic charm while being simultaneously sophisticated. With a variety of indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces, the New London Carriage House provides choices for every kind of couple to find their perfect fit. Bonus points, New London has some absolutely amazing spots to capture sunset wedding photography.
  2. The Grand Victorian – You know what I love most about this venue? How the name is so matter of fact, and to the point. It really lets you know up front exactly what kind of vibe this venue exudes because this place is absolutely grand. It’s clean, elegant, and a fantastic space for summer wedding photography on PEI.
  3. Clinton Hills – Where the New London Carriage House offered a clean more quaint approach to rustic energy, Clinton Hills offers the big, showy version. This is a great space for larger weddings, as the venue itself is huge and is surrounded by tons of land perfect for photos – especially in summer when the rolling hills are covered in long, gorgeous grass.
  4. The RiverShed – Married on the water, surrounded by forests, bathed in the glow of the sunset. If any of those words appeal to you, then the RiverShed is definitely the place for you, as this venue provides all of that in one space.
  5. The Sunset Room – Once again, a venue that puts it all out in the name. The Sunset Room is exactly that, an outdoor venue, perfect for smaller parties, with a built-in restaurant and river to dine on.
  6. The Delta Hotel – Modern, minimal, and muted elegance is the best way to describe The Delta Hotel, the only hotel located in PEI’s historic harbourfront district. It’s got amazing suites and is within walking distance to a bunch of fun sites to see.
  7. The Mill River Resort – This is the perfect PEI venue for the adventurous couple who wants a little bit of an outdoorsy vibe combined with modern amenities. It’s also a great place if you’re looking for a PEI cottage wedding, as there are individual cabins available for you and your party.
  8. Rodd Crowbush Golf and Beach Resort – If you’re wondering, ‘can you get married on the beach in PEI?’ The answer is a YES. This resort offers access to the beach for an oceanside ceremony along with golf courses and fantastic cottages. This is the place for your dream beach wedding in PEI! You’ll feel like you’re on a great vacation simultaneously.
  9. The Harris Church Cottage – This is the perfect place for the couple who want to get away from the world and celebrate their special day with a very chosen few. This private cottage venue space is smack in the middle of dozens of trees, so it’s almost like getting married in a tree house.
  10. Founders Food Hall & Market – This place is a great place for the modern couple. The ones who want to celebrate with a little quirk. The couple who wants to celebrate with donuts instead of wedding cake, and maybe sees the world a little differently. It’s urban, industrial, and trendy all at once.
  11. Beaconsfield Historic House – If you’ve ever wondered where Wednesday Addams would get married if she wanted to be wed in PEI, then wonder no more. The answer is without a doubt Beaconsfield! This Victorian estate is moody and magical all at the same time and is probably one of my personal favorites.
